The Pederson Custom (formerly Abyss) Archtop Hollow body is an exceptional guitar. From the sound to the fit and finish, this guitar is an individual work of art. I hand-make each guitar and select the wood from suppliers that consistently ship AAA materials. Traditional acoustic construction is used in these Archtops; you will notice the bent sides, carved and graduated top plate and back plate. Other acoustic construction techniques used to produce the archtops excellent acoustic tones are kerf lining the sides, and a neck and heel block.

All of these Koa archtops have a natural finish and are very beautiful guitars—there are no stains and fillers applied to change the natural tones of the beautiful Koa wood. They come loaded with custom features such as binding the entire top, back, f-hole, headstock and fingerboard. Other examples would be the ebony appointments including headstock overlay, tailpiece and bridge. Inlaid block, along with the bone nut and bridge, round out the appointments.

Pederson Custom (formerly Abyss) archtop guitars have a VERY lively feel acoustically and that is why the customer feedback is so positive. In our construction modus operandi we carve the top and back so that you can run this archtop through a higher gain setup, unlike so many of our competitors' archtop guitars, without the unwanted type of feedback. You can’t stand in front of a Marshall stack cracked to ten, but you can drive the amp a little harder to get that boutique tone that everyone is searching for. So in essence, you never lose that unplugged archtop feel or vibe; and all that translates into a live amplified stage tone that is summed up in the words "boutique tone."

We also offer custom archtop designs. Our latest offering is the Drea Armani, a new custom archtop suitable for jazz / rock. This guitar features a 15" body with a player-focused design.
